What friends have I!

They are those that I most trust
They, whose counsel I do seek
They, whom I will entreat to stay, and rest awhile to have a drink
To share with me what they have done, they have thought, and they have dreamed
For to me it matters what the day for them will boast
how it falls, whom it hurts
I wish to succor them and shield them from all reprise.
They whose common cause I seek
For as I sit and think on it, I wonder if any of us will ever see
Such a lovely thing that we cannot but pause
and tell our friends of it.
