"Pawnshop Ruby ain't some hooker the band named itself after. Singer Mary [Johnson's] preacher dad would likely whale the tar out of her were that the case. Though her mix of honky-tonk and bluegrass does get rowdy at times, aided by Fake Swedish's Joe Romeo's guitar, there's enough country in it as well to smooth things out. And as for the origins of the Pawnshop Ruby handle, Mary's first, long-lost guitar has that honor. --GB"
